As a third-generation veteran, service is the foundation of who I am. I earned my engineering degree from Stanford via an ROTC scholarship and later completed my M.S. in Technology and Policy at MIT.
As a Captain in the USAFR, I served three years on active duty and thirteen in the Inactive Reserve. I was the COO of AND1 Basketball, co-founded B-Lab to promote B Corporations, and taught chemistry in North Philadelphia through Teach for America.
For thirty years, my family and I have happily called Chester County our home. I am honored to be the first woman elected to Pennsylvania’s 6th Congressional District and the first Democrat since the Civil War, serving on the Armed Services Committee and the Select Committee on Intelligence.
My experiences as a veteran, an educator, an entrepreneur, and an engineer give me a unique background to continue to meet the moment in our country’s history and prepare for a better tomorrow.
Serving as your representative in Washington, D.C. has been a tremendous honor since 2019. I remain focused on transparency and accountability, and my voting record is publicly available. I’m proud that I have won numerous awards, including the Democracy Award in three separate categories. However, as much as we have moved ahead and confronted many challenges, there’s work to be done.
That’s why I co-founded the BIOTech Caucus to bring more good paying jobs and scientific innovation to our community and country. Also, I know many people are rightly concerned about issues of affordability. I am too, that’s why I crafted the New Dem Economic Growth and Cost of Living Working Group and put forward commonsense policies to get our household economies back on track for success.
